Onewheel Pint Vs XR: Which Board Is The Best?

Which is the better board for you, the Onewheel Pint or the XR?

There are two types of boards available for the Onewheel: the Onewheel+ and the Onewheel+. Both of these boards are great for cruising, but there are differences between them. One of those differences is the number of wheels available. The Onewheels have four wheels, while the Onewheel Plus has six.

The Onewheel+ is the “real” Onewheel, if you will because it gives you more options, power, and customization. However, if you’re not interested in challenging yourself and just want a relaxing ride, then the Pint is more suited to you.

Both boards are great for cruising. If you prefer the Onewheel+, get the Onewheel + XR rather than the standard Onewheel PINT.

Onewheel XR

Extended Range (XR) is the flagship product from Future Motion Inc. It has a larger battery, which provides you with more range; bigger wheels and larger size, giving it greater stability; and a bit more versatility over various terrain types.

The Onewheel XL is the board for off-road riding; it can literally take you everywhere, on roads, gravel, sand, and rock. It’s heavier than the Pint but lighter than the Onehweel Pro.

If you’re looking for an affordable trail bike that’s good for commuting and riding with groups, the XR Trail might be worth considering. However, if you’re looking for something more capable than the Pint, you may want to consider the full suspension version instead.

Onewheel Pint

The Pint is a new version of the popular XR boards that comes with some refinements. It weighs slightly less than its predecessor (23 lbs. ), features footpads, and is a bit smaller in size.

On the plus side, there’s no need for an additional charger. But on the downside, if you ride outside during the winter months, you may not get as far.

It’s the perfect commuting board for me because it has a small size, is light, and has a built-in handle that makes it easy to carry around.

The Pint has a slightly smaller and rounder wheel than the XR, which means it may be a little less stable when riding over rough ground or through tight turns.

What Are the Differences Between a Onewheel Pint and an XR?

1. Price

The XR camera is priced at $1,799, whereas the PINT camera costs $950, which makes them pretty similar. However, they’re not exactly the same because one has better features than the other.

Remember, the prices for the accessories are the same regardless of which model you choose. So the gap between them will narrow as they stack up.

For example, I spent an additional $300 on my Pint to add front wheels, fenders, and protective covers for the board (check here for the tire pressure). These are things that every rider should consider investing in.

2. Range

When comparing the Onewheel Plus vs. the Onewheel XR, we need to take into account what each one brings to the table when it comes to range.

The Onewheels’ top speed is 12–18 miles per hour (110 minutes to recharge).

The range of the OneWheels Pint is 6–8 miles, and charging takes 120 minutes.

The distance or reach that a OneWheel can provide is certainly something to think about. Consider what you’ll be using the OneWheel for most and where you live. Do the places you frequent get close together or do they stretch far apart? Can you find somewhere to relax and recharge your OneWheel? These questions should help you choose your model.

3. Speed

The OneWheel XR is slightly faster than the Pint at 19 mph (30 km/h), but has less noticeable pushback. If you’re looking for maximum speeds, however, the XR is the way to go. Otherwise, the pint is fine for most people. The current speed of the Onewheel XR is 15 mph (24 km/h), while the Pint tops out at 18 mph (29 km/h). The elevated speed limit of the Pint is also a factor to consider. The Pacific speed limit is 25 mph (40 km/h) in California, so if you plan on traveling long distances, you may want to look elsewhere.

4. Size

The pint is slightly heavier than XR with its 24 pounds (compared to XR’s 26 pounds), but it doesn’t feel any different when carrying it for long periods of time. A nice thing if you’re looking for a more compact board is the smaller size of the Pint; the Pint comes in at 27″ versus the 29.5″ of the XR. Also, it has a narrower stance and a smaller foot pad. However, this is dependent on your body type and stature. The compact size of the XR is great for those who like to travel light. The size support weight of the XR is lighter than the Pint, weighing in at 25 pounds compared to the Pint’s 28 pounds.

The wheel size of the XR and Pint is very similar, measuring 22 inches wide and 8.5 inches tall. This gives both boards the ability to fit almost anywhere.

5. Water-resistance

None of the boards are waterproof, though both are advertised to be water-resistant. From an engineering standpoint, the Onewheel Pint is clearly better designed and more resistant than the somewhat older Onewheel Pinto. The sealed control and power box are a big leap forward in the refinement of the OneWheels product lineup. Still, they are no longer waterproof, and I would advise you to bag your bike if you plan to take her out in any wet weather.

6. Riding experience

All models come standard with riding mode. You have the option of riding in either “sport mode,” which is geared toward beginners, or “freestyle mode.” Freestyle mode allows you to ride without worrying about the motor, so you can focus on having fun. It’s perfect for learning how to balance and steer the board.

Sport mode is geared toward experienced riders who want to learn new tricks and stunts. Riding conditions will affect the performance of the board as well. For example, if you’re riding in very cold temperatures, the motors may not perform as well as they would in warmer climates.

The PINT is the perfect last-mile commuter bike. Not only am I one of many who prefers the smaller sizes, but I keep mine plugged into my charging station so I don’t need to worry about carrying it around during the day.

The more agile driving mode makes it easier to navigate through traffic and avoid collisions. It’s also ideal if you need to grab some groceries on your way home because the little car fits perfectly into a shopping basket.

The XR is an excellent choice if you’re looking for something that can take you through rough terrain. It’s also ideal for those who enjoy riding their motorcycle off-road. The larger wheels make it easier to ride over obstacles and bumps, and the flat profile gives you better traction. You’ll find yourself enjoying your rides much more because of how comfortable they feel.

7. Flying

You can’t guarantee which airlines you’ll be able to travel on. But if you’re lucky enough, you may be able to take advantage of first-row seats.

The batteries in the pint are below 160 and therefore below the regulations of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). I recommend you look up further and check out this webpage.

So far, I’ve never flown with my PINT, but I’ve heard lots about other travelers who have used them. I prefer not to risk flying without knowing for sure whether it’s safe. If I ever fly with my Pint, I’ll probably book a rental through a company like Suprant when I travel.

With the XR headset, there is no “yes,” but there is a big “no.” You must return the device to the manufacturer for repairs.

FAQs

Is the XR Better Than the Pint?

If you’re looking for a long-range, flat-out fun ride, then the Onewheel Pinto might be worth the price. It has a bigger deck and wider wheels, which make it more stable and easier to control. However, the Onewheel XRs are faster and can handle heavier riders. They also have a higher top speed, which means you can go farther before needing to recharge.

Is The Onewheel Pint Worth The Price?

The OneWheel Pint is well worth the price and is an ideal commuting device for anyone looking for something smaller than the XR but with the ability to take off and travel longer distances. At $950, it’s less expensive than the XR.

What do you think about the pint?

You must love the pint! It’s small, light, and easy to carry around. Plus, it’s affordable and fun to use.
