WHOOP

I wore a WHOOP 4.0 daily for six months in 2025 alongside an Oura Ring and an Apple Watch as controls. These guides cover the questions I see asked most often — particularly the cost question, which is more nuanced than the marketing suggests.

WHOOP cost in 2026 — the full maths
The hardware is "free", the membership is not. Here is what you actually pay across one, two and three years.
Is the WHOOP 4.0 fully waterproof?
Tested in a pool, the shower and the sea. The marketing claim is true with one caveat.

The short take

WHOOP is excellent at recovery and strain tracking — better than most wrist devices for HRV and resting heart rate. It is mediocre at GPS, has no display, and locks all functionality behind a £25-30/month subscription.

It makes sense if you are an athlete or training-focused user and the recovery insights translate into better training decisions. For everyone else, an Oura Ring or Apple Watch is usually a better choice.
