How Do I Unlock The Acer Laptop Keyboard On Windows 10?

Acer laptops come with a built-in function called Lock/Unlock Key. You can use this feature to quickly lock or unlock the keyboard on your Acer laptop. Press the Fn + F7 keys to lock the keyboard. You may also find that pressing the Fn + F7 keys doesn’t work for you. If that happens, try pressing the Fn +F6 keys instead.

5 Ways To Unlock The Keyboard On An Acer Laptop

1. Use The On-screen Keyboard

Acer laptops come with a built-in onscreen keyboard. You can access it by pressing the Windows logo key + E at the same time. This method works well if you have a touchscreen display, but if you don’t, you may find yourself stuck without being able to unlock the keyboard. Fortunately, there is another way to unlock the keyboard.

To unlock the keyboard, simply click on the Show Touch Keyboard icon located on the taskbar. A new onscreen keyboard will appear. Press the Fn key with either the F7 or F8 touch keyboard button to unlock the keyboard. Now you can start typing away!

2. Disable The Filter Keys

You may find that your Acer laptop’s default keyboard isn’t functioning properly. You’ll need to disable the Filter Keys feature to fix the issue.

To access the Filter Keys setting, open Ease of Access and select Keyboard. Next, simply uncheck or toggle off Filter Keys.

Try using your keywords to see if the method works or not. If it doesn’t, then you may need to replace the keyboard.

3. Reinstall The Acer Laptop’s Keyboard Drivers Once More

All you need to do is uninstall the keyboard drivers and then restart your computer. After that, you can reinstall the keyboard drivers and hopefully solve the issue.

To access the BIOS menu on your Acer Aspire laptop, you must first power down your computer and then restart it. There are two methods to access the BIOS menu. One method involves pressing the F2 key during startup, and the other uses the arrow keys.

Look for the word “PS/2”. If you don’t see anything there, try uninstalling all keyboards. Next, reboot your computer and then restart it again.

After rebooting, you should see the BIOS menu. From there, you can either enter setup mode or simply exit. Either way, you should be able to access the BIOS menu without any problems.

Once inside the BIOS menu, you can uninstall the keyboard driver by right-clicking on the keyboard and selecting Uninstall the device. After that, reboot your computer and repeat the process until the keyboard works correctly.

If you still cannot access the BIOS menu, try installing the latest version of the keyboard driver. Open Device Manager and then right-click on the keyboard. Click on Update Driver Software and then browse to the location of the driver file.

Check to see if the driver is already installed after your laptop restarts and then reboots again. If not, open up Device Manager and then right-click on the keyboard. Click Install this driver software. Browse to the location of the new driver file and then follow the prompts.

Finally, if none of those work, you may want to consider replacing the keyboard. This is especially true if you’ve had the same problem for a long period of time.

4. Completely Reboot Your Acer Laptop

Sometimes rebooting your Acer notebook won’t solve the keyboard locking problem. If you’re having trouble, follow these additional steps:

  • Power down your Acer notebook completely by holding down the power button on the bottom right corner of your laptop.
  • Remove the battery and power cord from your laptop.
  • Allow your computer to sit still for a few seconds before turning it back on.
  • Reattach the battery and the power connection to your Acer notebook.
  • Turn on your computer after doing this. See if this fixes your keyboard problem.

5. Look Into And Resolve The Hardware Issues

You’ve probably already tried fixing your Acer laptop yourself, but if you haven’t, now is the time to look into it. There are several reasons why your Acer laptop keyboard may not work properly. Here are five common causes:

  • Broken keys
  • Damaged keys
  • Stuck keys
  • Cracked keypad
  • Keypad stuck down

To fix any of these issues, you’ll need to remove the keyboard cover and then use a screwdriver to loosen the screws inside. Once you’ve done that, you should be able to lift out the keyboard. If there are no screws inside, you’ll need to replace the entire keyboard assembly.
