But there’s another screen here with a similar horizontal resolution, but about HALF the width (the actual resolution is 3840×1100), and this is an IPS panel with touchscreen support. It’s here to give you fast access to controls in creative applications like Photoshop, or to let you multitask by housing windows that don’t require a ton of space, and the screen is raised at an angle when you open the laptop so it’s easier to see while you use it.

Having this huge screen on the bottom means the keyboard has to push down, so instead of having the touchpad below it, it’s actually on top of the keyboard. This makes it easy to reach, and it’s also less obtrusive since it doesn’t cover any buttons. Instead, it’s placed above them, and it can turn into a virtual num pad with the press of a button.

So if you want a number pad, it’s actually not too bad. That’s because the touchpad can turn into the virtual number pad with the press of a button, and in that case, the number pad is EXACTLY where you would expect it to be on a keyboard.

You will need SOME time to get used to it, however, because it’s a completely new way of interacting with a computer. But once you learn it, it’s pretty seamless.

The downside is that the touchpad isn’t quite as responsive as it was on the previous model, but it’s still usable. Also, TrackPoint is no longer available, but it’s not necessary anyway.
